1st Day FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH THE JUNGLE
11:30 Airport meet and transfer to the office to do the river travel paperwork.
12:30 Board the boat in the Capitanía Port and travel to our lodge, 30 minutes ride away.
13:00 Arrival at the lodges of Corto Maltes Amazonia, reception with a welcome cocktail, go to bungalows and lunch
15:00 Time to go for the first excursion that will take us into the tropical forest to discover a great variety of medicinal plants, tropical trees, insects and butterflies, between approximately 2 ½ to 3 hours walk away. A small stop at a view point to watch tucans and other birds. Return to the lodge and before dining take a night trip by boat for a fun ‘caiman safari’.

2 nd Day: PARROT COLLPA - MONKEY ISLAND - SANDOVAL LAKE
05:30 We will get up at 05:30 for a short 20 minutes walk and arrive at a collpa where a minimum of 5 different species of parrots come down from the trees to eat a special type of clay indispensible for their metabolilsm. It really is an exciting and fantastic sight.
8:00 Breakfast and free time until….
10:30 the time to board the boat for an expedition to Monkey Island where some species of these interesting creatures live in total freedom. An unforgettable time, so its important not to forget your camera.
Reboard the boat for 30 minutes travel before arriving at the magical and marvellous Lake Sandoval.
A 5km walk through exuberant tropical vegetation before feasting on a delicious picnic lunch.
The lake is a special place where numerous species of animals live, like the Giant Otter, small and large birds like the Hoatzin, Kingfisher and Snake bird, or monkeys such as the Howler Monkeys, Squirrel Monkeys and Capuchins, as well as the famous Pirhana and the giant Paiche fish that can measure up to 2.50m y weigh more than 200kgs. All of this can be discovered comfortably by canoeing until sundown.
Return to the river at night to see some nocturnal animals.
After a refreshing shower,
20:00 Supper and those who want to can chat in the deckchairs on the restaurant terrace before going to sleep, not forgetting to greet the Southern Cross.
3rd Day: TARICAYA - CANOPY
For those who wish its possible to visit the spectacular Parrot Collpa again.
08:00 Breakfast.
Exit in boat by a trip of 1h lowering Rio Madre de Dios. When one arrives receives specialized Guide to you (Biologist) where a botanical garden exists and explain on the agricultural work to how to take a culture of the suitable way (ecologically) and to appreciate in the way the different products that one I could seed (coffee, cacao, caimitos, etc) as much as fruits of the region and other zones.
Around the 13:00 the typical lunch be served.
After the lunch a small long walk where it is appraised the animals that are in recovery so that after a time it is come to his liberation as well as other animals that are free (monkeys).
Next another long walk to go towards a great tree where by stairs we will raise towards a platform (45 meters of height) that it connects with a suspension bridge and to discover the beauty that locks up this passage in its flora and fauna.
Return to lodge to 5:30 of afternoon

4 th Day STREAM AND SMALL FARM
08:00 Breakfast and free time.
10:00 Expedition in rowing canoe to a mysterious stream (quebrada). There with the guide you will have the opportunity to fish and with luck will be able to see a great variety of flora and fauna and tropical birds.
Return to the lodge.
13:00 Lunch and free time.
15:00 Leave in boat to visit what in its time was a hospital in the middle of the jungle. In the dry season you can also walk further into the jungle in search of the ‘Lost Ship’- a surprising view of an old steam ship in the middle of the Amazon jungle.
Before returning to the lodge stop in a smallholding (chacra) and the possibly try some tropical fruit of the region.

THE LAST DAY
7:45 Breakfast and board the boat returning to town. A visit to Puerto Maldonados fruit market.
10:15 Arrival at the airport.
It is possible that there are changes in arrival times of the planes, so times may change. If the flights are earlier, the market visit will be on the day of arrival, after the airport meet.
